It says it "was established in Derby in 1912, and moved to its present site in 1920. The grounds extend some 18 acres. Fees are 35 pounds per term; music 2 pounds per term; dancing (winter terms only) one pound ten." I'll see if there's a local museum to send the booklet to.
Margaret (Australia).Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17155132204370176066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-83426957339855540442013-01-04T04:45:57.541+13:002013-01-04T04:45:57.541+13:00i went to Ash Hall school in etwall from 1976 to 1...i went to Ash Hall school in etwall from 1976 to 1984 it was a great school my name is vincent spencer VincentSpencer@hotmail.co.uk 07821049400Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-25014114618489074102011-09-16T07:50:16.134+12:002011-09-16T07:50:16.134+12:00Thanks for the latest comment. OBOLENSKY, A. (The Ashe, Etwall.)" (The Ashe being the candidate's preparatory school.) I think that's pretty conclusive for your purposes!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-77554962289601465062011-04-05T08:31:18.907+12:002011-04-05T08:31:18.907+12:00I was at Ashe hall to between 1990-1995 when it cl...I was at Ashe hall to between 1990-1995 when it closed it was so sadAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-47794658280747140312009-11-15T20:55:02.108+13:002009-11-15T20:55:02.108+13:00Hello - Alexander Sergeevitch Obolensky was my fir...Hello - Alexander Sergeevitch Obolensky was my first-cousin, his mother Ljuba Alexandrovna was the sister of my father Vadim Alexandrovitch Narishkin. The school in the article was run by the Corbett brothers as a private boys preparatory school between WW1 and WW2, see http://photo-sleuth.blogspot.com/2008/02/post-script-to-ashe-obolensky-story.html

Derbyshire County Council ran a school at the same Ashe Hall after WW2, and it is this school to which the commentators refer.Nigel Aspdin (Derby, UK)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11287696605570389587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-12619976133267572612009-09-25T02:23:42.198+12:002009-09-25T02:23:42.198+12:00i also attended ashe hall in the late 80's and...i also attended ashe hall in the late 80's and loved it too great school shame it closedAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-84565134651787139802009-01-16T08:54:00.000+13:002009-01-16T08:54:00.000+13:00i had attended ashe hall school between 1988 and 1...i had attended ashe hall school between 1988 and 1994 it was a great school i loved itAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-81396217232958589352008-02-15T12:21:00.000+13:002008-02-15T12:21:00.000+13:00Well done, Nigel, and thanks for the image. A couple of days ago it was a beautiful morning here, and I planned to go out to Ashe Hall again, for a coffee at the Peace Cafe run by the Buddhist retreat there, and see if I could check around for the school crest on any old award boards that may have survived.

But first I suddenly decided to check out my 1935 Derby Directory, and hey presto ! I found a full page advert for the school and the crest, two Ash tree twigs and leaves. So in effect my Oblensky evidence is now beyond reasonable dispute, Obolensky must have been a pupil there. I sent you the page by email; will you add it?Nigel Aspdin (Derby, UK)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11287696605570389587noreply@blogger.com
