The Verso showing the lion & unicorn logo as in the photograph on your page but without tower, underneath "Established 1851"; Text saying "Photographed by R&E Sands - Opposite the Tower of London E.C. and at Port Adelaide, South Australia." Do you happen to know if the studio in London was still open at that time or if this picture has rather been taken at Port Adelaide? I know that my family has at that time been traveling to Sydney several times, but I am not sure, if they have been to Port Adelaide though…Brett Paynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07706734864792449845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-248577153171988342015-05-29T08:31:43.822+12:002015-05-29T08:31:43.822+12:00Thanks for the confirmation, Heather, and I'm ...Thanks for the confirmation, Heather, and I'm glad that my article was of some help to you.Brett Paynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07706734864792449845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4599702957095945938.post-54669651760416551692015-02-06T10:30:14.249+13:002015-02-06T10:30:14.249+13:00Great research Brett-thank you it filled in a lot ...Great research Brett-thank you it filled in a lot of gaps for me. <br />Edmund Lyne Sands of the well known Sands & Co, Trinity-square, London, whose ability as a Photographer and Colorist informs the Public that on 6th March, 1873, that he has taken over the business of P. His son Edward(also known as Edmund and Edwin) did move to Melbourne and then to NSW. One of his children was a son, Robert who had 7 children, 6 survived to adulthood and one was my Grandmother, Constance. As a Fine Arts graduate I was excited to see that my Great Great Grandfather was a portrait painter! Thanks for your research! Things I and my family would never have known! Cheers!Kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10508528469145246188noreply@blogger.com
